- Transaction Channel Enablement: At the time of issue/re-issue/renewal, all debit cards are enabled for use only at contact-based points of usage (ATMs and Point of Sale devices) within India. Other transaction channels (online/international/contactless) and transaction limits can be enabled or set via BOB ATM, bob World App (Mobile Banking), bob World Internet (Internet Banking), or IVR.
- Card Activation: For new cards, the customer must create a green PIN using a BOB ATM, bob World App, bob World Internet, or IVR. NRI customers receive a physical PIN and can activate by making an ATM withdrawal transaction.
- Account Linking: A maximum of 9 accounts held in the same name and same capacity can be linked to a Debit Card by submitting a request at the base branch.

- Debit Card Definition: A debit card is a multipurpose card that can be used for ATM, POS, online, and contactless transactions, whereas an ATM card can only be used for ATM transactions.
- Application Process: Customers may apply for a debit card in person at their local branch, online through the bob World App, online through the bob World Internet, or by calling the contact center.
- Network Offers: Bank of Baroda debit cards offer attractive offers on VISA, MasterCard, and RuPay networks.
- Insurance Benefits (for RuPay cards):
- NPCI provides accidental death and total disability insurance for holders of RuPay PMJDY, Platinum, and Select Debit Cards.
- Sum Insured for RuPay PMJDY Old Cards (issued till August 28, 2018): Rs. 1 lac.
- Sum Insured for RuPay PMJDY New Cards (issued after August 28, 2018): Rs. 2 lac.
- Sum Insured for RuPay Platinum: Rs. 2 lac.
- Sum Insured for RuPay Select: Rs. 10 lac.
- Non-Personalized Debit Cards: These cards are issued after 24-48 working hours from the receipt of the non-personalised card.
- ATM Acceptance: Bank of Baroda Debit cards are accepted at ATMs that are part of a network, such as RuPay, Visa, and Master Card.
- Card Blocking Prevention: Customers must frequently use their debit card to avoid it being blocked.
- PIN Requirement: A Debit Card cannot be used without a PIN. However, contactless transactions up to Rs. 5,000 can be done without a PIN as per RBI guidelines, and this facility can be managed using BOB ATM/bob World App/bob World Internet/IVR.
- Online/International Transaction Issues: If a debit card doesn't work for online or international transactions, it may be because it was never used for these channels or needs to be enabled. Enablement can be done through BOB ATM/bob World App/bob World Internet/IVR. International usage/contactless facility can only be enabled for International/Contactless Debit Card variants.
- Reasons for ATM Card Malfunction: A debit card may not work on ATMs due to reasons such as being blocked, improper card swipe, damaged/deteriorated card, an inoperative or frozen account, using the wrong PIN, connectivity failure from the ATM, or if the ATM channel has been disabled by the user.
- Wrong ATM PIN Attempts:
- Soft blocking: After 3 attempts of a wrong PIN in a day (within 24 hours), the debit card will be blocked for the next 24 hours.
- Hard Blocking: After 12 attempts of a wrong PIN in a month, the debit card will be blocked permanently.
- Hotlisting Debit Card: A lost/damaged debit card can be hotlisted (blocked) through the following modes:
- Contact Centre/Toll-free numbers (18005700): Follow IVR prompts to block the card by entering the account number and last 4 digits of the debit card.
- Mobile banking (bob World App): Log in, go to "Cards," select "Debit Card Hot listing," click "Block Card" for the desired card, and enter the transaction PIN.
- WhatsApp banking: Initiate a chat with Bank of Baroda’s WhatsApp Banking Number 8433 888 777, select "Block Debit Card," choose the card number, and confirm.
- Net banking (bob World Internet): Log in, go to "Services," "Service Requests," "New Requests," "Operative Accounts," select "Block Debit Card," choose the card, provide the reason and remarks, and enter the transaction password.
- Nearest Bank of Baroda branch: Submit a request for blocking the debit card by visiting any nearest branch.
- Non-Renewal Consent: To opt out of debit card renewal as per RBI Master Direction guidelines, the card must be blocked via Branch/IVR (1800 5700)/bob World app/bob World Internet at least one month prior to the card renewal month. Not blocking the debit card will be taken as consent for card renewal. The bank sends SMS notifications 35-40 days before the card expiry date.
